STEWARDSHIP

One of the goals of the EVW project is to illustrate the importance of proper land stewardship and wildlife management, through both private practices and government-led initiatives.

When managed with affection & forethought, private land and working ranches are critical components of conservation strategy. As recreational pressures continue to increase on public land, they become de facto wildlife refuges by providing safe, quiet habitat, breeding grounds, migration corridors and winter range.

Other initiatives such as prescribed burns, sustainable forestry, soil health and re-wilding are essential for rebalancing ecosystems and watersheds back to a healthy state.

Finally, wildlife management programs provide invaluable information about health, migration patterns, food sources and human impacts that inform land use and policy decisions at the local, regional and national level.
